Early Life

Following Doctor Ravenmore

One summer when Boone was 7, Doctor Petyr Ravenmore came to town in search for medicine. He talked about going into the forests and the mountains searching for artifacts. Boone was interested in ancient objects, but mostly he was bored being in a small community with not much to do but play his copper flute, so he tailed the man and his party through the woods, making sure not to be seen. He was noticed almost immediately, but Ravenmore didn't let on; instead allowing Boone to follow. When day finally turned to twilight, Dr. Ravenmore called out to Boone and told him to take a spot by the fire so wolves wouldn't snatch him away, as he wouldn't want to tell Boone's mother such terrible news.

Boone spent the evening talking to the doctor, hearing stories and legends from all the adventures he had been on. Boone had never been more than a couple miles outside of town before, and everything seemed strange and ridiculous about other cultures, but also intriguing. Dr. Ravenmoore would tell a story and Boone would play a song on his flute, and they would alternate back and forth until the fire was just glowing embers. The next morning, Boone helped Dr. Ravenmoore on his excavations, and when they returned to town, Dr. Ravenmoore promised to stop by whenever he was in the area.

When Boone turned 17, he decided that he wanted to see the world and have equally impressive stories to tell Dr. Ravenmoore. So Boone packed up his instruments, left his mother a sizable portion of his savings from helping the good doctor, and headed out on the road to learn songs and stories from all cultures, old and new.
